Mayku expands its portfolio with three engineering materials

Jul 30, 2023Jul 30, 2023

Mayku has announced the launch of three engineering materials for the Mayku Multiplier: ABS, PMMA, and UHMW.

The manufacturers of desktop vacuum former explained that traditionally, working with these materials required complex and costly processes or limited moulding methods.

However, by seamlessly integrating ABS, PMMA, and UHMW into the Multiplier workflow, users can now capitalise on their properties, such as heat resistance, transparency, and friction reduction.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), is a widely used thermoplastic polymer in the manufacturing industry. Its features include strength, durability, and resistance to impact, heat, and chemicals.

Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is a transparent thermoplastic commonly referred to as acrylic. It serves as a durable and lightweight alternative to glass, thanks to its shatter-resistant properties and offers PMMA's transparency, durability, and weather resistance.

Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW), is a thermoplastic renowned for its exceptional strength, durability, and wear resistance. It is often used in applications where a low coefficient of friction is essential, such as bearings and conveyor systems. Additionally, UHMW offers non-stick properties, which make it ideal for moulds, facilitating easy removal of casted objects.

Integrating these engineering materials into the Mayku Multiplier workflow should be seamless. Mayku said thorough testing has been conducted, and specific profiles have been created to ensure ease of use and reliable results.

To start utilising these new engineering materials, users can update their Multiplier to the latest firmware through the Settings menu.

The availability of these new materials should gradually expand to different territories, making them accessible worldwide in the coming weeks.
