Pebble Creek Ski Area is looking forward to the upcoming ski season. The Mountain Operations team has been working hard this summer making several visible improvements, as well as the annual maintenance and thorough inspections of lifts and infrastructure.

Riders on the Skyline Lift will notice a visible facelift, as every chair was repainted this summer, and new chair pads were manufactured and installed.

A new conveyor lift, commonly known as a “magic carpet” has been installed on the Aspen Beginner Area. This lift works much like a people mover you might find in an airport or a conveyor at a check out stand. In this case, guests will ski or board right up to the conveyor belt and slide on. They will remain standing for the four-and-a-half-minute ride to the top of First Timer Run, where they will easily slide off. This type of lift makes it easy for beginners or families, and will alleviate much of the congestion at the bottom of the Aspen Lift. This surface lift is just under 700 feet long, making it one of the longest in the United States.

In addition to the new lift, Pebble Creek has increased the snowmaking capabilities on the lower mountain. The updated storage pond has tripled the holding capacity of water used in snowmaking, new pipes have been installed, more electricity has been added, and additional hydrants have been positioned to help lengthen the ski season and keep a consistent snowpack on the mountain.

Employees at the ski area will enjoy a new break room below the lodge deck, allowing them a more centrally located place to warm up, have lunch, or grab their gear for a ride break. Additionally, having more space should help build comradery amongst the staff by giving the opportunity for workers from multiple departments a common place to gather. Pebble Creek is now accepting applications for those interested in working at a fun mountain environment with skiing and boarding privileges. Applications can be found at pebblecreekskiarea.com/employment.

With cooler temperatures in the forecast and the Pocatello Ski Swap coming up this weekend, skiers and boarders are feeling the excitement of the upcoming season. Pebble Creek staff will be available at the Ski Swap and guests can pick up their season pass, purchase day tickets or gift cards, and peruse the new Pebble Creek branded merchandise including shirts, hats, stickers and more.
